The brain and the body have a two way communication thought the nervous system.  If there is interference in this connection there is a dissonance or disruption of  life energy.

Basically, now any information coming from the body to the brain is jumbled.  As this continues the body will compensate it's posture because of  pain being felt. ( this is why pain moves from place to place )  New neuro-patterns will form in the brain and cortex causing this pattern to be reinforced with each movement.

This tension and stress in your system causes a postural distortion.  Creating an instantaneous apposition or                     misalignment of  the vertebra.  This misalignment affects the nerve-roots exiting the spinal cords,  bombarding the         mechanoreceptors, sending information up the lateral cortical spinal tract of the spinal cord up to the ipsilateral             thalamus in the brain.  This fires a postural compensation because pain fibers are now being excited and sent down         the anterolateral  descending tracts of the spinal cord, towards the postural muscles.  This creates a negative                     feedback loop that is continuously compensating for tension patterns and pain due to an interruption caused by             stress patterns that are stored in the bone, muscle, fascia or spinal cord.

This creates a dissonance, a disconnection, a dis-ease process that is expressed through out the whole body.  Decreasing the adaptability of the system to daily stresses.  Changing our perception of these experiences from normal to abnormal.  Now all movements and all activities are filtered through the brain, postural muscles and nerves as inappropriate responses non-healthy movements.

When properly integrated or released, stress dissipates throughout the body allowing proper brain physiology and connection to be expressed.

Integration of experiences is essential to life.  These experiences are learned everyday and change the way we operate in our world.  When there is an interruption to the connection between the brain and the body.  As chiropractors, we access the body through the function of the nervous system and release the potential thought the chiropractic adjustment.  Thus, integration of the experience and learning takes place.

The essence of chiropractic is allowing the true healing capacity of the body to unfold.  Each person who receives care is talking responsibility for themselves and how they react to the world.

Dangerous Daily Stress...

Dangerous Daily Stress.

Working like this causes a imbalance in the postural muscles, improper alignment of the the spinal bones, and spinal cord tension that pulls on the brain stem and spinal nerves.

This tension causes a myriad of conditions:  Headaches, shoulder tension, leg pain (sciatic), low back tightness, and autonomic nervous system stress, internal organ dysfunction and disease.

Straighten up, move correctly and get adjusted.

Feeling vs. Function

We are taught that if we feel good (feeling no pain) then we are healthy.  Looking at the way the body is organized we can see from this picture that about 10% of the nerves are dedicated to the pain response.

So what does the rest of the nerves do?
One part controls your movement, the Motor Nerves.

The other part is the Autonomic Nervous System.  This is the automatic nerves that operate without having to think about them.  Breathing, digesting, immune function, and healing from a paper cut or cancer.

So if true healing comes from the Autonomic Nerves, how do you keep that at 100% efficiency?

Chiropractors are trained in Nervous System Balance.  This creates healing, repair and balance to the bodies innate ability to heal.   This is about how you function.  Not how you feel.
